Coriander leaf & seed |
|
Coriander has traditionally been
referred to as an “anti-diabetic” plant, been used as an anti-inflammatory
and recently studied for its cholesterol-lowering effects.
Recent studies (though still on
animals) confirmed all three of these healing effects. Coriander helped
stimulate their secretion of insulin and lowered blood sugar, reduced the
amount of damaged fats (lipid peroxides) in cell membranes. And in high-fat,
high-cholesterol diets, coriander lowered levels of total and LDL while
actually increasing levels of HDL. Research suggests oils found in the
leaves may have antimicrobial properties.
